Jeffco Detains DPD Sergeant in Charge of Internet Luring of a Child

A sergeant with the Denver Police Department is in custody, facing charges of internet luring of children. Timothy Hyatt, 45, turned himself in to authorities shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The Cheezo Unit/Special Investigations Unit at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hyatt.

The investigation began in February 2022, when Hyatt began communicating with someone he believed to be a 14 year old girl. Hyatt utilized multiple social media platforms as well as a variety of online identities. During the virtual interactions, Hyatt made many sexually explicit advances toward the young teenager.

Based on information given investigators were able confirm the identity of Hyatt, and he now faces one charge of luring via the internet a child. Hyatt’s court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow, where he will be informed of the charges against him and a decision will be made on the bond.
