Sprucing up the center

The Golden Visitors Center is undergoing renovations with new cabinetry units, and a grand front desk all made from Colorado Beetle Kill pine as seen in the photo with Carol Christensen, left, and Sharon Hoover, right, volunteers at the Golden Visitors Center. The center, which is a separate entity from the Golden Chamber of Commerce, will be receiving a computer, a printer and a few tablets as well. “The whole purpose was to bring the Visitors Center into the 21st century,” said Vicki Wagner, Visitors Center board member.

“Businesses and organizations are seemingly printing fewer brochures and instead, offering information online.”

Upgrades to the center will happen in phases, Wagner said, as the center runs on donations and annually raises funds through mailings to Golden residents. MillerCoors, GURA and the Golden Civic Foundation have donated for the renovation. The center will remain open during its remodeling and will continue to offer brochures for those that want them.
