Muller named RMAC athlete of the week

 – With a career-high 35 points at Colorado Christian, Colorado School of Mines men’s basketball redshirt senior Brian Muller has been named this week’s Mines Student-Athlete of the Week, athletic department officials announced Monday.

Muller scored 20 of his 35 in the second half Thursday to rally the Orediggers (9-0, 5-0 RMAC) to a 95-89 come-from-behind win.

The Billings, Mont. product only missed four shots on the evening, draining a season-high 9-of-11 field goals, 7-of-8 three-pointers and 10-of-11 free throws. He followed 5-of-6 threes in the opening 20:00 with 10-of-11 free throws in the second.

Eighth in Division II in three-point shooting (.533) and seventh in the RMAC in scoring (17.7 ppg), Muller has lifted Mines to No. 2 nationally in field goal percentage at 53.1 percent.

The award is the second of his career and first since November 2012.
