Golden Police Arrest Officer for Alleged Sexual Exploitation of a Child

On July 3, 2018, the Golden Police Department initiated a criminal investigation into a possible child pornography case after receiving information from another law enforcement agency. The investigation identified 28-year old David S. Delaney, a Red Rocks Community College Police Officer, as the primary suspect. Upon notification of our investigation, the RRCC Police Department took immediate action placing Delaney on administrative leave.

As the investigation continued, Golden Police obtained information that Delaney was going to flee the country by flying out of Denver International Airport (DIA) to Taiwan. A warrant for Sexual Exploitation of Child, a class 4 felony, was obtained and Delany was arrested on September 23, 2018 prior to boarding his plane. Delaney was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility. This morning, Delaney posted a $60,000 cash/surety bond and is awaiting a GPS tracking device. The court has ordered the Golden Police Department to keep Delaney’s passport in custody. The court also ordered Delaney to have no internet access and no travel out of the state without permission of the court.

This is still an active and on-going investigation. Anyone who believes they may have additional information about this case or Mr. Delaney is encouraged to call the Golden Police Department tip line at 303-384-8034 or email crimetips.
