colorado railroad museum news
The Colorado Railroad Museum has been a hive of activity in March! We’ve partnered with the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, engaging their track crew, mechanical tamper, and hopper car to overhaul our entire operating track. They are adding several hundred thousand tons of ballast from Martin Marietta in Golden. In addition, they’re raising, realigning, and tamping the track. All in time for the Bunny Express on Saturday!
In this month’s issue, you’ll see that we’re offering some great opportunities to engage at the Museum:
• our new exhibit Trains in Literature explores how trains have been important elements in a variety of literary genres for generations.
• Trains in Literature Spring Break activities this week! It’s a fun way to have a great time with your kids during Spring Break! And it’s inlcuded in admission!
• Annual and popular Bunny Express this Saturday!
• New opportunities to support the Museum with your vehicle donation or shopping with Amazon Smile!
You’ll also hear about the new compact shelving that’s been installed in the library!
It is an exciting time at the Colorado Railroad Museum where we bring Colorado Railroad history to life! See you soon!

Trains in Literature
January thru June 2016, upper gallery – Free with admission
Trains have been featured in literature since their invention in the early 19th century. The sense of adventure and mystery they can bring to a story make them a perfect setting for an engaging tale. Using the museum’s rich library collection and some special treasures from our friends, this exhibit explores the impact these stories have had in both children’s and adult literature.

New Compact Shelving
Last week, new compact shelving was delivered and installed at the Robert W. Richardson Library. The new shelving provides critically needed storage capacity for our archives. The new shelving increaes our storage by 40%. If you would like to make a donation toward its cost, please contact Marcie
