Breaking News: One dead in senior housing fire

Golden Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire Friday afternoon that may have been fatal.

The fire, and the body of a woman, were located at the Ulysses Senior Housing complex in Golden. Just after 1:30 p.m. dispatch got a call from a passerby who saw smoke coming out of a window at 1152 Ulysses Street.

Fire crews arrived at the scene in six minutes according to city sources. Upon entry, firefighters found active fire and a deceased female inside.

Firefighters were able to get the fire contained in less than 30 minutes.

Golden Fire was assisted by Pleasant View Fire and West Metro Fire at the scene. The fire did not spread to any other units in the complex.

Investigators had to wait for the CO levels inside the home to drop to a safe level before they could begin their investigation. Because there is a fire and a death, both Golden Fire and Golden Police are investigating.
